THE DETAILS, RELEASE BY RELEASE
Reqplay changelog.
New capabilities, thoughtful improvements, and the fixes that keep your work flowing.
v1.9.0
LATEST RELEASEFeatures
- Manual workspace backup files and validated, confirmed restoration in Data and privacy. Preserves collections, requests, environments, variables, flows and settings; excludes history, uploaded file contents and vault secrets.
- Turkish and English application languages with a saved language preference and system-language detection. Interface text, context menus, validation, accessibility labels and release notes are localized; request data is preserved.
- Turkish and English website routes, browser-language detection, language switching and localized search/social metadata.
- A dedicated download page with OS-based recommendations and separate Apple Silicon, Intel and Windows options. Only verified published packages can be downloaded.
- Separate macOS architecture build targets, combined platform update manifests and a Windows build preparation workflow. macOS minimum remains 13.0; preparing a target does not claim a tested or published binary.
- Context menus for flows, steps, parameter/header rows, variables, JSON fields and history. Custom text editing and response-copy menus replace native Reload/Inspect menus.
- Request tab context menus for closing, bulk closing and pinning. Pinned tabs stay on the left, survive reopening and are protected during bulk closing; Shift+F10 opens the menu.
- Drag saved requests from the collection sidebar into a flow, including between existing steps. Drop markers and automatic scrolling are supported; source requests stay in place and running/paused flows cannot be changed.
- Request tabs, keyboard navigation, a command palette and session undo for deleted requests, folders, collections and flows.
- Original binary response downloads and safe image previews; explanatory DNS, TLS, connection and timeout error cards.
- Flow environments, run-scoped variables, templated expectations, persistent result summaries and comparisons with previous runs.
- Safe CLI flow exports using the same Rust HTTP engine as the desktop app, JSON/JUnit reports and exit codes suitable for CI.
- Flows: sequential boards of saved requests, drag sorting, disabled steps, delays and duplication.
- Step assertions for HTTP status, duration, headers, response text and JSON Pointer values; configurable stop/continue behavior on failure.
- Breakpoints before requests, debug startup, single stepping, pause/resume and cancellation. Inspect resolved requests and responses with secrets hidden by default; export summary reports.
- Response bindings feed later steps. New flows keep variables scoped to the run by default. Definitions and environments are frozen at startup; automatic update installation and concurrent flow runs wait. Request/response bodies are not saved in flow definitions.
Fixes
- Public release verification identifies its requests with a User-Agent to avoid rejection of the default Python client by the CDN.
- Preserve large JSON integers and decimals in response bindings, field discovery, formatted views and collection exports.
- Malformed or truncated JSON and unresolved custom redaction rules cannot leave plaintext bodies in new history entries.
- Late responses and bindings from cancelled requests no longer update a newer workspace; CLI idle connections are handled correctly.
Improvements
- Standardized remaining non-compatibility branding across package/binary names, internal events, source helpers, examples, documentation and landing text. Existing data/Keychain identities, legacy file formats and signing records remain unchanged.
- Moved language selection out of Theme into its own Appearance card with a dedicated heading and description.
- Compact flow headers, collapsible run settings and more room for step editing and response inspection. Board and inspector scroll independently.
- Repository links and publishing commands now use private reqplay/apps and reqplay/landing repositories. New update checks use reqplay.com instead of the removed legacy GitHub channel.
- Separate workspace persistence, request execution and binding responsibilities; outdated saves cannot mark newer edits as saved.
- Scoped HTTP connection pooling, body-free history lists, bounded response caching and on-demand flow inspection.
- Lazy-loaded Settings/Flows and split frontend bundles. Chromium/WebKit and CLI regression tests. CI installation remains deferred; check templates do not build packages.
- Release preparation requires a clean checkout and an exact source commit.
- Page-specific SEO, canonical links, Open Graph/Twitter cards, release-generated JSON-LD, current sitemaps and favicons.
- A dedicated single-logo 1200×630 social card replaces the old brand review image.
- Private application/release and landing repositories; public signed downloads and update manifests are served through reqplay.com.
- Publishing a release automatically updates website download metadata, release notes and the public update feed.
v1.8.0
Features
- Reqplay branding and Play Loop identity across icons, wordmarks, menus, settings, imports/exports and the installer.
- Transparent SVG and 4096px PNG icon/wordmark assets, reproducible sources and a downloadable brand package.
Improvements
- Existing projects, app data and Keychain entries remain compatible. Exports use .reqplay.json; both old and new project format identifiers can be imported.
v1.7.1
Fixes
- The auto-hidden collection panel opens directly alongside the icon rail, keeping content and its resize handle aligned.
v1.7.0
Features
- Random strings with lengths of 1–4096, preset letter/digit/hex sets and custom Unicode sets. Variable-aware prefixes and suffixes for every generator.
- UUID v1–v8, Nil and Max generation; names/namespaces for v3/v5, DCE identity/domain for v2 and optional 32-hex custom data for v8.
- Random integers with inclusive bounds, UTC dates, Unix seconds/milliseconds and variable-based text concatenation.
Improvements
- Generator-specific controls, masked previews, persistence and exports. Cryptographic randomness; repeated references and dependent hashes/HMACs share the same value within each request.
v1.6.0
Features
- Dynamic values using SHA-256/384/512, SHA-1, MD5 and HMAC with hex, uppercase hex, Base64 and Base64 URL output. Combine variables, JSON values and enabled query/header fields as UTF-8 input.
- Create formulas from JSON text cells or the Dynamic Values manager and reference them with {{dynamic.name}} in URLs, headers, query, auth and bodies. Values are computed before each send with masked previews and missing/circular reference checks.
- Saved automatic update preferences. Disable scheduled checks and installation while retaining manual checking, downloading and installation.
- Include/exclude JSON tree fields without deleting them, including nested objects and array items.
- Drag JSON rows within their object/array using handles, with drop markers, autoscroll, Alt+↑/↓, undo/redo and Escape cancellation.
Improvements
- Preserve inclusion settings across reopening, text/table switching and reordering. Excluded fields do not resolve variables for sending; arrow buttons were replaced by drag handles.
v1.5.1
Fixes
- The macOS HTTP engine recognizes system-trusted local HTTPS development certificates. Fixes GET/POST requests to browser-working .test domains while retaining certificate and hostname verification.
v1.5.0
Features
- Searchable release notes in Settings, grouped by version with expandable cards.
- Unpublished changes appear separately as the next release in development.
- Always-visible, auto-hide and hidden sidebar modes. Auto-hide opens at the left edge and stays open during search, context menus and dragging.
- Stacked or side-by-side request/response panels with saved divider sizes.
- System, dark and light themes; first installations follow the system and existing explicit preferences are retained.
Improvements
- Removed redundant left-side import shortcuts; the top-right Import button remains available.
- The import tip can be permanently dismissed.
v1.4.0
Features
- Persistent drag sorting of requests in the sidebar, with before/after indicators, scrolling and click separation. Supports same/cross-folder moves and Alt+↑/↓. Running requests may reorder within their folder but cannot move to another folder.
v1.3.1
Improvements
- Consistent styled selects across all pages with matching heights, borders, corners, arrows and keyboard focus.
- Improved light/dark styling, long environment names and disabled states, retaining compact method/JSON/file controls.
- Shared select styling for environments, auth, collections, folders, variable scopes, history and response bindings.
v1.3.0
Features
- Disabled automatic correction, spellchecking and capitalization in API text fields.
- Variable completion after {{ in URLs, parameters, headers, auth, variables and bodies, with Enter/Tab, arrow keys and Escape. Secret values are not listed.
- Optional known header name/value suggestions while allowing custom input.
- JSON text and table/tree views with nested insertion/removal, type changes, collapsing, reordering and undo/redo.
- Preserve large numbers, field order, duplicate keys and invalid text while editing.
v1.2.0
Features
- Dedicated Settings: Appearance, Updates, Data and privacy, About.
- macOS Settings menu and ⌘, shortcut, plus sidebar access.
- Theme previews, layout reset, update status/manual actions and backup recovery in one place.
- Keep open requests, history selection and auth drafts when navigating Settings; automatic restart waits while Settings is open.
v1.1.2
Improvements
- Refined light theme with neutral surfaces and purple accents for selection and primary actions.
- Improved text, placeholder, tab, table, search, form and focus contrast.
- Fixed dark-looking empty states, shortcuts, imports, notifications, history and update screens in light mode.
- Readable JSON/method colors and clearer context menu hover/delete states.
v1.1.1
Fixes
- Fixed update installation failures caused by macOS support metadata in the updater archive.
- Re-extract archives before publication and verify app signatures and notarization tickets in the extracted copy.
Features
- Includes the redesigned DMG and context menus from 1.1.0.
v1.1.0
Features
- Retina drag-and-drop installer artwork, a clear Applications target and preserved DMG layout.
- Collection, folder and request context menus with keyboard navigation and light/dark themes.
- Create, rename, configure, duplicate, move, export and copy URLs from menus.
- Confirm deletion scope and protect items containing running requests.
- Copies use independent credential-store records; editing a copy cannot modify the source secrets.
v1.0.0
Features
- HTTP requests, JSON/text/form/multipart/file bodies and response inspection.
- Postman, OpenAPI/Swagger, HAR, cURL and URL imports.
- Environments, variable inheritance, Basic/Bearer/API key auth and Keychain.
- Secure JSON response bindings and login token refresh.
- Persistent request history, secret redaction and backup recovery.
- Light/dark themes, resizable panels and virtual rendering of large responses.
- Signed automatic updates from the original public binary repository, with source code kept private.
